Event Summary
For the first time in 8 years, WoodWorks held two events - a regional March event in Christchurch and the national September event, WoodWorks North 2023, in Wellington. These events brought together well over 350 leaders in engineered wood design and construction throughout New Zealand.
WoodWorks North 2023 was held in Wellington's iconic Sky Stadium on 19-20 September 2023.
WoodWorks covered mass timber technology developments, including LVL and CLT, prefabrication and connection systems which are set to transform commercial buildings. Early advantages have included accuracy, early contractor engagement and speed of construction. Now wood’s advantages in creating biophilic environments and long-term carbon-friendly sustainability are set to be recognised.
This event continues to showcase the practical experiences of a range of building professionals and focuses on completed New Zealand and Australian projects. A range of inspirational international projects were also discussed.
The Lessons Learnt' workshop series was a new addition to the programme. Attendees were able to participate in specialist workshops on communication, architecture and design, engineering and project management.
In another first, WoodWorks held an open industry expo and seminar for attendees and the wider Wellington region. This was a massive success and one that we are sure will feature again in the future.
We wish to thank all speakers, partners, exhibitors and attendees for making this a memorable two-day event. If you are interested in participating in future WoodWorks events, please contact us.
