Woodspan PLT Panels is growing. Seeking a Market Manager to lead this growth. Role can be based in New Plymouth, Auckland or Waikato.
Woodspan are a proudly NZ owned manufacturer and fabricator of PLT (Parallel Laminated Timber) providing sustainable mass timber solutions to the construction market.
This innovative company was founded in 2018 and its success has resulted in a strong reputation and repeat business built from providing high quality, fit for purpose products and great customer service.
Woodspans’ rapid growth has enabled the team to move into their next phase of development. Being an extension of Taranakipine, leaders in the design and manufacture of value-added wood products for over 60 years, allows Woodspan to continue to develop products that have revolutionised the local prefab construction industry in NZ.
The Role
Woodspan is looking for a Market Manager, based in New Plymouth, Auckland or Waikato to lead the commercialisation of the business. As the senior manager, you will lead the business from a market led perspective where business success is driven by strong sales growth. In this role, your key leadership partner at Taranakipine is the Commercial Finance Manager and together you will ensure that all end-to-end systems, processes and other capabilities are in place to meet growth plans.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing the market strategy, providing the technical and commercial information to customers (architects, engineers, builders, developers), creating opportunities and taking these right through to order confirmation and revenue realisation. You will lead finished PLT panel production with the Woodspan fabrication team, overseeing delivery and installation of Woodspan systems into a wide range of building projects.
You will have the appropriate S&OP processes in place with Taranakipine operations to ensure on time, in spec deliveries to Woodspan customers. This includes working alongside senior Taranakipine operations managers to assist Woodspan operations improve productivity and manufacturing capability.
The ultimate measure of success for this role is rapid year on year growth of the Woodspan business, and by 2025 the Woodspan range of products is considered core business at Taranakipine/Woodspan delivering sustainable profitability to the company.

In addition to this you will also demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas;
- Proven ability to lead and execute sales strategies
- Extensive experience in the building and construction industries
- Project management delivery experience managing complex projects
- Strong technical aptitude including the ability to understand architectural and engineering plans
- Passionate about building with engineered timber products
- Adaptable with fantastic interpersonal skills and a high EQ
- Strong attention to detail and sharp organisational skills
- Willingness to travel within New Zealand
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, construction or related discipline (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience in wood processing, and/or wood science (desirable)
- Experience in the building specification industry and/or working within manufacturing environments (desirable)
