(London) Green light for O’Rourke to start timber office block. Planning approval has been granted for The William mixed-use development in west London with Laing O’Rourke lined-up as main contractor. Construction will start next year on the Queensway site in Bayswater opposite the revamp of the Whiteleys department store site which O’Rourke is also overseeing.
Foster + Partners has designed The William which will deliver six floors of Grade A office space spanning 90,000 sq ft alongside 21,000 sq ft of shops and 32 new homes when it opens in 2026. The William will be constructed using cross-laminated timber making it one of London’s largest timber developments.
