MBIE Update – The team at MBIE are busy analysing feedback received on the embodied carbon methodology, and are incredibly grateful for the time and effort that went into submissions, including those from the timber sector.
The feedback will be used to develop the proposals for the future inclusion of embodied carbon within the building regulatory system. This is being done in conjunction with a number of other government initiatives, including the:
- Carbon Neutral Government Programme (https://environment.govt.nz/what-government-is-doing/key-initiatives/carbon-neutral-government-programme/ ) and the
- Government Procurement Guidelines on low carbon construction (https://www.procurement.govt.nz/assets/procurement-property/documents/procurement-guide-to-reducing-carbon-emissions-in-building-and-construction.pdf ).
