
If you’ve been a regular WoodWorks Conference attendee you may recall from our 2018 conference how excitement generated when landlord and property developer Bob Jones declared he would commit to mass timber for a building renovation he was planning in downtown Wellington. At the time architect Mark Woodbury and Bob Jones gave their presentations, those grand plans have since changed.
Now the full story can be told and mass timber did play a key part in topping up this subsequent re-design of the building. Now from the team at Architecturenow, Amanda Harkness investigates Studio Pacific Architecture’s adaptive re-use of Brandon House and finds a makeover that delivers the commercial tower, dating back to the 1960s, some impressive sustainability credentials.
