A 5-Storey Mass Timber Demonstration Building – It’s Role in Building for Climate Change
Marty Verry, Group CEO & Chair, Red Stag Group
Marty Verry spearheaded the industry’s advocacy for the government to adopt the ‘wood first’ procurement policy for government buildings. Now that it has been implemented, Marty will explain New Zealand’s emerging regulatory and policy framework to address the 20% of NZ carbon emissions caused by the ‘Embodied Carbon’ in buildings.
A key facilitator of these changes is the Mid-Rise Wood PGP partnership with MPI, which sets out to showcase best practice in mass timber. The Clearwater project is the first of several demonstration projects to help share the designs and lessons with the local design and construction community.
