Event Summary
WoodWorks 2024 attracted over 200 leaders in engineered wood design and construction. The programme covered mass timber technology developments, including LVL and CLT, prefabrication and connection systems that are set to transform commercial buildings.
Early advantages have included accuracy, early contractor engagement and speed of construction. Now wood’s advantages in creating biophilic environments and long-term carbon-friendly sustainability are set to be recognised.

Following the event, a bus took delegates to Summerhill Timbers and Arvida’s mass timber building site, Bethlehem Shores.
Keynote Speakers
Keynote speakers included, Sam Leslie and Andrew Hewitt from Red Stag Timberlab, who kicked off the event with their insights on advanced timber solutions. Following Sam and Andrew, Melanie Tristram, the Digital Delivery Lead at Jasmax, delved into the latest in digital innovation in construction. James McLean, Project Manager at LT McGuinness, also shared his expertise on project management in the timber industry.
International presenters included Nick Hewson from Arboralis in Sydney, Australia, who presented on mass timber lessons from Australia, and US-based Steve Pryor from Simpson Strong-Tie, spoke on the lasted findings from the 10 storey NHERI TallWood project.
WoodWorks will continue to showcase the practical experiences of a range of building professionals and focus on completed New Zealand and Australian projects. Each year, we also showcase inspirational wood experts from leading tall timber exemplar building projects overseas.
