A new connection technology is being used for OWOW’s latest tall timber building in mass timber at 1510 Webster Project site in Oakland, California. The product is called PILLAR. It’s designed to place mass timber panels directly onto columns, is proving its mettle. It’s capable of withstanding immense compression while also contributing to a sleeker finish by reducing floor thickness. PILLAR’s versatility is demonstrated by its compatibility with a range of materials.
For those interested in the specifics, PILLAR supports column-to-floor systems with a column distance up to 12 x 23 feet and transfers over 1,124,000 lbf of vertical force between columns.
