Rapid Technology Quantifies Advantages of Timber Design & Carbon Sequestration
Barry Lynch, Director & Quantity Surveyor & Eoin McLoughlin, Quantity Surveyor, Logic Group
The decision to build with sustainable timber projects needs to be made early in a developments life. Traditionally this decision is usually made by a developer with a vision, someone that wants to make a difference, someone that wants to build a legacy project. As a result Timber builds have become bespoke passion projects rather than your everyday project.
Due to this bespoke nature the mined cost data can tend to be on the volatile side. This volatility of cost data in timber builds has resulted in a great number of viable timber builds falling over at feasibility stage.
Our presentation examines the use of ground breaking 3D Cost modelling technology to provide accurate parametric cost data and carbon calculation all in one process, providing more wholistic data to developers.
