The team at ICON are celebrating practical completion for t3 Collingwood:
We’re excited to have reached practical completion for T3 Collingwood at 36 Wellington Street in Melbourne.
The 15-storey building now stands as one of Australia’s largest timber multi-storey buildings, and is showcasing the success of mass timber construction. 10 of the 15 levels are made entirely of wood, featuring an exposed glulam post and beam structure with cross laminated timber floor panels.
Targeting a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy Rating and a 6 Star Green Star Rating, the timber used in construction was ethically sourced from local renewable forests, and the building itself will have a 40 per cent lower embodied carbon footprint than if it was a traditional concrete and steel structure.
Developed by global real estate company Hines, this $92 million project surpassed many impressive milestones along the way, and we’re proud to have championed environmentally sustainable design and construction in addition to having a majority female site. We look forward to continuing these positive changes in the industry with our future projects.
Congratulations to the whole team led by Site Manager Chris Cornish and Project Manager Mei Ching Doery, who collaborated with our project partners to bring this impressive building to life.
