From Bates Smart: Great news out of Chicago, as 55 Southbank Boulevard has been named overall winner of the Renovation category at the 2022 CTBUH Awards.
This comes after director Julian Anderson and Scott Davies from Hume Partners had the honour of presenting the project as part of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat – CTBUH 2022 International Conference.
Australia’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) extension project and the world’s tallest mass timber vertical extension, 55 Southbank Boulevard was recognised for its innovative use of CLT to add 10 levels to an existing six-story commercial building, sequestering nearly 2,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
A special thanks to our key collaborators Hume Partners, WSP in Australia, WSP, Duo Projects, Inhabit, Icon, Vistek Structural Engineers, KLH Massivholz, XLam.
